2023’s biggest hit drama, Oshi no Ko swept the anime floor with its spectacular anime pilot. Since then, the series has come a long way and is delivering enough source material through its ongoing manga. But, recently, the series found itself amidst controversy following its latest manga chapter release.
Oshi no Ko Chapter 143 titled “Blind Follower” saw Ruby kissing Aqua while they pretended to be their past selves Sarina Tendouji and Gorou Amamiya respectively. As Ruby expressed her feelings, the scene escalated pretty quickly and turned into a potential romantic angle that no one asked for.
Not long after the chapter’s release, it sparked intense debate and divided the fandom. Long-time fans of the series seemed dismayed over the sudden shift in the story and called out the original author and artist for pushing the inc*st agenda even stronger with the twins now indulged intimately.
At this point, both Ruby and Aqua already know about their previous incarnation and have somewhat inherited the personalities of their past self as well but it doesn’t justify Ruby’s action as factually the two had spent the last 18 years considering themselves siblings.
While the fans wished for Kana Arima to end up with Aqua, the creators doubled down on the kiss between the twin siblings by showing another one as part of the filming. Apparently, this development has upset many fans with the majority of them deeming Oshi no Ko Chapter 143 as the “worst chapter ever”.
Even though Oshi no Ko fans are in a state of disgust and shock following the latest chapter, it was quite evident from the start that the series could go down this path. Unfortunately, the horror has come true for the enthusiasts who have decided to quit reading the manga as they aren’t prepared for what’s to come next.
