A brand new futuristic sci-fi series is on the horizon with writers from critically acclaimed series “Psycho-Pass” and “Berserk” teaming up to bring forth the story. Drawing on their respective strengths, the talented artists from both series have joined forces to deliver a unique blend of action, suspense, and philosophical exploration.
Titled “Police Tribe K-9”, the upcoming sci-fi manga will be penned by writer pair Makoto Fukami and Ryo Yoshigami, with illustrations by Natsuo Sai. Set to launch this month, the series will begin serialization in Akita Shoten’s Young Champion starting March 26, 2024.
AAO Project is overseeing the production and the final front cover for Police Tribe K-9 featuring the main cast of the series has also been revealed. The new series by “Psycho-Pass” and “Berserk” staff promises to transport audiences to a captivating futuristic world, filled with complex characters and intricate plotlines.
Series creator Makoto Fukami has been previously involved in the scriptwriting of Berserk 2016 anime and the 2023 film “Psycho-Pass Providence”. He also supervised Gege Akutami in writing the American military section in “Jujutsu Kaisen”. Meanwhile, Sai is responsible for writing “Naruto: Konoha’s Story – The Steam Ninja Scrolls” spin-off manga.
Police Tribe K-9 takes place in a futuristic Japan where the government has privatized all its functions, and now many of the Private Security Police (PSP) investigate crimes with a profit-and-loss mentality. The story chronicles Shunsaku Iwai, who runs a small private police office in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district.
Together with his mysterious partner Hannibal Lee, a former terrorist, and Dandy (a robot police dog “Animal Unit”), Iwai sets off to fight against the problems and heinous crimes that only a privately run society can solve! Be prepared to witness what these master storytellers have in store.
