The Shibuya Incident arc is undoubtedly the most thrilling and poignant narrative segment in the entirety of Jujutsu Kaisen. Full of emotions, the story arc has everything to offer and fans recently experienced it in the second season. And, in an interesting move, the makers have decided to bring the high-voltage drama of the arc to the big screens.
In commemoration of the release of the “Shibuya Arc” Blu-ray Volumes 4 and 5 on March 20, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Jujutsu Kaisen announced on Monday that Episodes 17 to 20 of Season 2 will be screened in Japanese theaters for a one-week period starting from March 29.
The Blu-ray versions of the mentioned episodes will be shown all together in nationwide theatres across Japan. In addition, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17 featuring Sukuna vs. Mahoraga will receive newly corrected and extended animation footage that wasn’t included in the original TV broadcast and distribution.
This means fans will be able to witness the gripping fight between Sukuna and Mahoraga with better sound and enhanced visuals. One of the animators of the second season hyped the new revised version of Episode 17 by saying, “There are ‘additional cuts’, and I believe it surpasses what one might imagine”.
Jujutsu Kaisen “Shibuya Arc” Blu-ray Volumes 4 and 5 are set to drop on March 20, 2024. As overseas fans won’t be able to experience the cinematic version of Sukuna and Mahoraga’s epic battle, they can head to official websites to pre-order physical copies of the Blu-ray discs and watch it from the comfort of their home screens.
