Remembering Fasasi Ayinla Olabankewin (Dagunro), 2 years After His Death. Lovely Photos Of His 5 Children And His Grandchildren

If you are a lover of Yoruba movies, you might have heard about the name ‘Dagunro’. He was a great Yoruba veteran actor who projected the Yoruba culture in a good way with his powerful movies. With the real name, Fasasi Ayinla Olabankewin, Dagunro was known for acting as an herbalist and warrior in Yoruba traditional movies.

Yoruba Veteran Actor, Dagunro Alajiga Oogun was born in Osogbo, Osun state. He started acting at a very young age as he got inspiration from his school teacher who was also a great veteran actor identified as Late Duro Ladipo. Dagunro graduated from primary school in the year 1968. And that was his highest educational qualification.

This great movie personality started acting before he finished his primary school education. Dagunro was also trained as a mechanic but he left the craft because of his passion for acting. Late Dagunro celebrated his 50 years on stage in the year 2015.

Dagunro acted and produced several Yoruba movies. Some of his featured movies include ‘Osa Eleye’, ‘Sese De’, ‘Akanni Mefa’, ‘Aye Kanju’, ‘Ikilo Agba’, ‘Inu bibi’, etc. This great veteran actor was able to mentor some modern-day Yoruba actors who are identified as Kamiliu Compo, Muyideen Oladapo Lala, Murphy Afolabi, Ademola Tijani, Lukman Raji, to mention a few.

Dagunro was believed to have produced about 18 Yoruba traditional movies before his painful death in June 2019 due to undisclosed illness. He was a muslim before his death.

This Yoruba movie legend married only one wife and he was blessed with 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. Two of Dagunro’s children have decided to follow his footsteps as they have chosen careers in entertainment. Dagunro’s third child, Jamiu Olabankewin is also an actor. He started the acting profession with the guidance of his father from childhood days.

Another Dagunro’s son identified as Kazeem Iyanda Olabankewin is a Set Designer and Movie Producer. He is the owner of Dagunro Films Production and an Online Television called ‘Orokilawa TV’.

Other Dagunro’s children are identified as Iye Olabankewin, Yemisi Halimat Olabankewin and Suliat Ashake Olabankewin. Dagunro was also blessed with grandchildren before his demise. Jamiu Dagunro has a son identified as Farouq Omojojuola Lampard Olabankewin. Iyanda Dagunro has a daughter identified as Kazeem Khadijat. Iye Dagunro has a daughter identified as Aliya Dagunro.

It should be noted these Dagunro’s children may have other kids apart from the ones mentioned above. As these are only children known with them in the social media space.
