Taylor Swift kept the momentum going after the release of “Red (Taylor’s Version)” on Friday with a passionate 10-minute performance of “All Too Well” on “Saturday Night Live.”

The dark, anthemic ballad, which was enlarged from its initial 2012 version, has been a fan favorite through the years. Swift started the show with an acoustic guitar and was joined by two female support vocalists at the conclusion. Swift and a few musicians played in front of a giant-screen projection of her “All Too Well” short film, which she directed and published on Friday, on top of a patch of fall leaves.

Throughout the concert, Swift was amusing. When she performed one of the new lines to “All Too Well,” she rolled her eyes and twirled her finger: “Sipping coffee like you were on a late-night program.” A little rain of flakes began to fall on Swift, who was dressed in an off-the-shoulder black bodysuit, as she delivered the phrase “I remember the first fall of snow.”

This week’s program was presented by Jonathan Majors, star of Netflix’s new Western thriller “The Harder They Fall.”

Swift made a surprise cameo earlier in the show in a pre-taped piece with Pete Davidson of “SNL” and a trio of the show’s writers — Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy — who also perform as the comedic group Please Don’t Destroy. Swift appeared in Davidson’s “Three Sad Virgins” music video to add a few steamy words mocking the three fresh-faced young guys who resemble “sad Ron Weasley,” as Swift sang, conjuring the “Harry Potter” character.

Swift’s sixth visit on “SNL” as a musical guest comes at a hectic moment for her. On November 12, she released her second album, “Red (Taylor’s Version),” as well as the short film “All Too Well,” which features re-recordings of her early Big Machine work. The 2012 album has been remastered and expanded to 30 tracks, up from 16. Critics have reacted positively so far.

Swift shattered her own record for the most-streamed album by a female in a single day on Spotify just one day after its release. On the first day, Republic Records’ “Red (Taylor’s Version)” received over 90.8 million streams.

Swift, unlike other pop artists, still has a strong sales presence, and sales numbers for the two-CD and four-LP editions of “Red (Taylor’s Version)” have yet to be released. But it won’t be surprising if the vinyl edition sets some kind of first-week record, given how much her fans have embraced the format in the year and a half since “Folklore” vinyl became a phenomenon, with the recently delayed LP release of “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” being a key factor in returning that album to No. 1.
