
he name Dagunro in the Yoruba movie industry would never cease to exist due to his enormous effort in the Nollywood industry until his painful death on 13th June 2019. The death of Dagunro was really painful and mark one of the saddest days in the Yoruba movie industry.
Dagunro popularly known as Fasasi Olabankewin was a Nollywood veteran who was popular for acting as a herbalist, a warlord and many roles that deals with being powerful. Dagunro was also one of the stereotype actors who could have been enjoying his laid down works like Lalude and others but sadly, death took him away.
According to research, Dagunro started acting at a very young age when he was still in Primary 5, have acted and produced many Yoruba movies like Osa Eleye, 1000 Boys, 100 Years and many other Yoruba movies. He celebrated his 50 years on Stage in 2015 but sadly died four years later after battling with an undisclosed sickness.
May his soul continue to rest in peace but his name would forever live on as two of his children continues the legacy moulded by their father.
Dagunro sons, Jamiu Olabankewin and Kazeem Iyanda Olabankewin are two of his 5 children who continues his legacy in the industry.
Jamiu Olabankewin;
Jamiu Olabankewin popularly known as Tinu omi is one of the sons of the late popular Yoruba legend who have been a popular face in the industry even before the death of his father. Jamiu Olabankewin started acting at a very young age and acted alongside his late father in movies like Osa Eleye, 1000 Boys, 100 years and many movies.
Many recent Yoruba film lovers won’t know the name “Tinu Omi” due to his activeness in the industry but the handsome actor is gradually getting back into the industry to continue the legacy.
Kazeem Olabankewin;
Iyanda Kazeem Olabankewin is another popular son of the late Yoruba legend who is also an actor. The handsome actor is a set designer, producer and the CEO of the Dagunro films production.
Kazeem Olabankewin has also been in the industry years ago under the mentorship of his late father, Fasasi Olabankewin. The popular actor has been able to act in many Yoruba movies which gave him the needed exposure in the industry. Although not as popular as Jamiu, but the actor is also doing very well in the industry.
These are the two Dagunro sons of the 5 children of the late popular Yoruba legend who continues the footsteps of their father, Dagunro. What an actor, may his soul continues to rest in peace.
