Sony SRS-XB13 – a baby BT speaker with Extra Bass punch

The Sony SRS-XB13 is the latest arrival to the Sony XTRA BASS family.

We have some sneak peek details on the Sony SRS-XB13 and we expect great things from EXTRA BASS – like bass you can hear.

  • Mono up-firing 360° 46mm speaker (no watts RMS given)
  • Passive bass radiator
  • Sound Diffusion Processor (DSP) expands the sound stage
  • BT 4.2 with Google Fast Pair and Siri or Google Assistant (via the smartphone)
  • A2DP/AVRCP/HFP/HSP (supports handsfree speaker phone)
  • SBC and AAC codecs
  • Can be stereo paired
  • 20Hz to 20kHz at 44.1kHz sample rate
  • USB-C charge cable supplied (only needs 5V/.5A/2.5W) for 4.5-hour charge
  • Claimed up to 16 hours use (at 50% or volume level 26). 5-hours at 100% volume
  • IP67 with ports closed
  • Lanyard

GadgetGuy’s take – it may be a baby speaker, but it does have some bass

When speakers get this small and are waterproof, it is damned near physically impossible to get any bass at all – let alone high-bass 100-200Hz.

Sony EXTRA BASS has a digital signal processor (as used in all the EXTRA BASS series) to produce well, extra bass. We have yet to review this, but we have seen its effectiveness in other models.
