Boruto anime TV has been on hiatus since March 2023, following the conclusion of its “Code Arc” in Episode 293. Fans have eagerly awaited its return, but updates have been scarce—until now. A recent feature on Studio Pierrot, the studio behind the series, has reignited hopes for its imminent comeback.
In a NHK WORLD-JAPAN segment spotlighting Studio Pierrot’s animation process, Boruto anime director Masayuki Kouda was shown crafting an illustration from Two Blue Vortex with the August 2024 issue of V-Jump magazine visibly placed beside him.
Kouda, a long-time employee and key member of Studio Pierrot’s production team, has contributed to all major projects from the studio. His prominent role in the NHK feature and his close ties to the Boruto franchise has fueled speculation that the anime’s revival is underway.
While Studio Pierrot has yet to announce an official return date for the Boruto anime, the timing of the NHK segment has sparked fervent fan theories. Many interpret the studio’s subtle tease as a hint that new episodes could arrive soon.
Coincidentally, Studio Pierrot has confirmed a booth stage at AnimeJapan 2025, where it will unveil its 2025 lineup and anniversary projects. The three-day event, slated for March 2025, could hold critical clues about the anime’s revival.
