With the release of the final episode of the second season of Studio MAPPA’s historical fiction anime series, Vinland Saga once again bids farewell to its fans. Following an epic finale, the producers of the anime dropped a bombshell suggesting that Vinland Saga Season 3 is in production.
On Monday, at the end of the broadcast of the final episode of the second season, dropped an easter egg towards the end credit scenes of the episode hinting at a potential Vinland Saga Season 3 being developed at Studio MAPPA. Further details are still under wraps however, it promises another gripping season of action, drama, and visually stunning imagery.

An official statement from the makers of the series regarding a new season hasn’t been made yet but it will surely be renewed for a third season as confirmed by the chief animation director of the anime. With details about the coming season gradually being revealed, fanatics can’t help but eagerly anticipate what lies ahead.
Vinland Saga Season 3 is likely to retain its main production staff from the previous season with Shūhei Yabuta as the director, Hiroshi Seko handling series composition, Takahiko Abiru designing the characters and Yutaka Yamada composing the music. The cast will also be returning to reprise their roles.
Vinland Saga Season 3 Release Date
The third season of Vinland Saga will adapt the “Eastern Expedition Arc” of the manga, which takes place four years after the events of the “Slave Arc”. The anime will pick up where the second season left off, with Thorfinn’s journey in an expedition to create a peaceful nation. A release date for Vinland Saga Season 3 has not been confirmed yet, but it is expected to drop in 2024.
Based on the manga by Makoto Yukimura, Vinland Saga Season 3 will see Thorfinn being joined by his friends Thorkell, Canute, and Einar as they travel to Greece in an attempt to build a new world while facing several challenges, eventually setting the stage for the final arc of the series.
