On Friday, Toei Animation released a press statement in which it revealed that the production of One Piece and its other anime projects are going to be delayed for an indefinite period. The reason given behind this hiatus was an unknown third party involvement which affected their website being hacked on Sunday.
On March 11, Toei Animation revealed in a press statement that their website was hacked and they discovered it on March 6. According to the company, its internal network was illegally accessed by a third party and as a precaution, they had to shut down its online shop & a part of the website to block any access from outside.
In the press statement, Toei apologized to the fans for the inconvenience saying, “Details are currently under investigation, but it has been revealed that it will affect the airing schedule of our TV animations Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken, Delicious Party Precure, Digimon Ghost Game, and One Piece. We deeply apologize to all the long-awaited fans for their concern every week.”
As for users’ personal details, and internal paperwork, Toei Animation is currently doing an investigation alongside a specialized security company. However, beginning March 20, every anime project handled by Toei Animation will be delayed. The extent of the delay has yet to be officially confirmed.
More information on the broadcast details of One Piece and other anime will be posted on the official website of Toei after March 20.
