The members of the Demon Slayer Corps dedicate their hearts to saving humanity from the vicious demons roaming around in the city. Many put their life at stake to save others and our main trio of Tanjiro, Inosuke & Zenitsu are habitual of it. But, for all this deadly work, do they really get paid? And if yes, then how much is the salary of Demon Slayers?
There are hundreds of Demon Slayers within the organization, but they are not officially recognized by the ruling government. Even walking down the streets with swords in hand is prohibited for them, however, they still perform their job and also, get paid for it.
But, the question arises how much they really earn from such a dangerous job? Well, the salary of Demon Slayers is determined on the basis of their respective ranks in the organization. So, before knowing how much they earn, you have to know a little about the rank structure of Demon Corps.
The members of Demon Slayers Corps are classified into 10 different ranks, with Mizunoto being the lowest rank and Kinoe being the highest. Hashiras or Pillars are ranked higher than the other members and in order to become eligible to join the Hashira, a Demon Slayer must either successfully kill 50 demons or a member of Twelve Kizuki as a Kinoe.
Talking about the salary, the lowest rank members of Demon Slayer Corps are roughly paid 20,000 yen (about US $173) per month while the Hashiras are paid as much as they want. Since, Tanjiro, Inosuke & Zenitsu are ranked fourth from the bottom and hold the Kanoe rank, they get paid around 30,000 yen (about US $260) for their job.
However, all this financial support is not provided by the government officials and it’s done solely inside the organization. But, exactly who pays for the salary of Demon Slayers? The salary comes from the pocket of the head of Demon Slayer Corps i.e. Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
Kagaya is the 97th leader of the Demon Slayer Corps and is also the head of the Ubuyashiki Family. The Ubuyashiki bloodline is considered to be a very wealthy family, so they hire the Demon Slayers and funds them for their duty towards the safety of civilians. Now, why do they do that?
