Intel has released details of its new Intel 11th Gen Core H-series and Xeon Mobile processors (Tiger Lake). The new range includes i5, i7, i9 with and without vPro and Xeon, a workstation-class processor.
The Intel 11th Gen Core H-series is a radical departure from Intel’s traditional core designs. It now focuses on raw single-threaded performance, new Intel Xe graphics, DP 1.4b/HDMI 2.0, Intel Killer AX1675 Wi-Fi 6E, Up to2.5GB LAN, more PCIe lanes, Gen 4 SSD support, and Thunderbolt 4.
The product range includes models for essential, ultra-portable (H35-series), thin enthusiast and halo enthusiast (Gaming made mobile).
Some feature/benefits of the Intel 11th Gen Core H-series
- Intel Killer AX1675 Wi-Fi 6E is up to 3x times faster and has 75% lower latency when used with an AX 6E compatible router
- Mandatory certification for Thunderbolt 4 ensures backwards compatibility with USB-4, TB3 and USB 1/2/3. It also supports 100W upstream charging and Dual DP outputs
- Intel Speed Optimiser app allows for complete overclocking control and Turbo Boost Max 3 to load balance across cores.
- i9-11980HKTurbo to 5Ghz is a fully unlocked processor supporting 20 PCI Gen4 lanes and 4K 120Hz panels offering between a 5-and-21%C games performance increase over the i9-10980HK and 11-26%^ over an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX
- Other H-series have 32EU Xe graphics with 4K@60Hk monitor support and AI-enabled video editing. Compared to the 10th Gen they are 20% faster at video creation, 22% at photo processing and 14% at MS Office productivity workflow

GadgetGuy’s take
The Intel 11th Gen Core H-series and Xeon Mobile processors (Tiger Lake) are significant steps forward, but we expect Intel to be true to Moore’s Law. Note these all have 35W eTDP, so they won’t be as power-sipping as the G Evo series.
It is not just the processor but the close coupling via 8 DMI channels with the discrete Intel 500-series Tiger Lake support chipset that really makes the H-series spectacular performers. Previously the support chipset was separate on the motherboard instead of the CPU die.
