Alaafin, or Man of the Palace in the Yoruba language, is the title of the head of the middle age Oyo empire and present day Oyo town of West Africa. He governed the old Oyo Empire which stretched out from the current day Benin republic to Nigeria beginning from states in the South East and West toward the North.The individuals under him are called Yoruba and communicated in Yoruba Language.

The Alaafin of Oyo in Yoruba folklore and history is supposed to be one of Oduduwa seven grandsons who later became Kings, shaping the bedrock of the Yoruba Civilization.

The title was held after the fall of Oyo Empire as the authority title of the formal leader of the contemporary locals of Oyo, Nigeria.

The current Alaafin (Emperor) of Oyo is Oba (King) Lamidi Adeyemi III who is the 45th Alaafin.

The Alaafin of Oyo state Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III ( is the traditional ruler, of the Yoruba town of Oyo and he is rightful heir to the throne of its historic empire.

According to Wikipedia, the Alaafin is married to seven women, but according to other sources, he has only four wives, others also confirm the number is seven wives, some said talk about even 10 wives. whatever the number may be, the Alaafin really spends quality time with his spouses.
